Wednesday, January 8
6:00 – 7:00 pm
Indianapolis Liberation Center
1800 N. Meridian St., Suite 305
Indianapolis, IN 46202
The Indiana branch of the Shaka Shakur Freedom Campaign is hosting this event, which was initially published on the website of the Indianapolis Liberation Center.
This month marks Indiana Political Prisoner Shaka A. Shakur’s 23rd year of false imprisonment. As an aging great-grandfather with severe medical conditions, we need to return Shaka to our community now. That’s why we need everyone to get involved in the movement to free Shaka on January 8.
Shaka has already served the entirety of his 2002 sentence on politically-motivated charges of attempted murder, despite the fact that no one was injured in the incident. Moreover, the alleged victim, a Gary, Indiana cop, has stated he would not oppose Shaka’s release.
Even while behind bars, Shaka has become an internationally-recognized human rights activist and has completed and even taught numerous courses and programs that make him ready to enter the workforce and positively contribute to society.
Shaka needs to be free now, and we need him here now. Come through the Center to write letters to:
- Lake County Prosecutor Bernard Carter urging for his release
- Shaka Shakur to let him know he has people outside standing with and fighting for him
We’ll have paper, pens/pencils, envelopes, and stamps ready.
