RAP Session: Musa Springer and Shaka A. Shakur

In this video, Shaka Shakur is interviewed by Musa Springer, a co-host of Revolutionary African Perspectives, a weekly show on Atlanta’s WRFG 89.3 FM that airs Mondays between 7:00 – 8:00 pm ET. Shaka and an organizer with the Shaka Shakur Freedom Campaign were guests on the show earlier this year. We want to send our heartfelt appreciation for the support and helping us raise awareness about Shaka’s legal case and how the fight for his freedom is the fight for our freedom!

The following description was written by Zolo Agona Azania:

What most people are unaware that the North Amerikkkan Department of Corrections is politico-economic penalty system for profit first; it is also an essential element of legal slavery and involuntary servitude –this is political. It is not always necessary for the prisoners to be engaged in some type of conscious, community based political activity, prior to incarceration in order to be held as a political subject. This is so, because of the political activity of the ruling social-class state ruling government. For example, Shaka Shakur is a well known effective educator and organizer in City of Gary, Indiana’s New Afrikan neighborhoods, especially among the youth. Therefore, when Shaka experienced the death or lost of his biological son by gun violence, he suffered a serious temporary depressive nervous breakdown in grief. The political agents of repression, police spies, local and state persecutors or prosecutors took opportunistic advantage of his personal family tragedy and stretched everything out of proportion. Plus his retained counsel (attorney) had his ambitious sights for a sitting judge. Now he has no “State” interest to help Shaka’s case or to clarify the official record. Shaka was over-charged with “attempted murder” which is not true. Brother Shaka Shakur is a political prisoner of war and a conscious citizen of the Republic of New Afrikan. He and other political prisoners locked-down throughout these United Snakes of AmeriKKKa needs public support to highlight their plight in all human right sights.
