With co-sponsorship with the Rockland Coalition to End the New Jim Crow, the Lower Hudson Valley DSA is excited to host a screening of the biographical documentary, “Across Enemy Lines”, which details the life of New Afrikan revolutionary organizer and political prisoner Shaka A. Shakur, who is currently being held in domestic exile in Virginia.

The screening will be followed by an in-person panel discussion with organizers working on Shaka Shakur’s Freedom Campaign, including Derek Ford, Stephen Lane, Jasmine Moody, and Lisa H. Kuroda.

About the Panelists

Derek Ford is a co-founder of the Indianapolis Liberation Center, where he volunteers as the Organizational Relations Director, serves on the Board of the Shaka Shakur Freedom Campaign, organizes with the Coalition to Free Vernon T. Bateman, and co-hosts the weekly podcast, Naptown People’s Radio.

Stephen Lane works as an archivist, is a third-generation resident of Indianapolis with deep roots in the community and ties to the city’s workers, unions, and artists. Stephen serves as the Treasurer of the Indiana Black Librarians Network and is the Coordinator of the Fonseca-Du Bois Gallery powered by Arte Mexicano en Indiana and organizes with his local committee of the Shaka Shakur Freedom Campaign.

Jasmine Moody is a dedicated community organizer who works with the Indianapolis Committee of the Shaka Shakur Freedom Campaign.

Lisa H. Kuroda is a writer, teacher, translator and activist. Born in Tokyo, raised in Texas, she organizes with the Black Alliance for Peace Solidarity Network and alongside numerous political prisoners and their defense campaigns.
